RECALLS

Recalling a patient is an essential part of the healthcare system. A recall could be issued for a number of reasons and is an indication that your General Practitioner (GP) requires your attendance in a follow-up appointment. Your GP will determine if you require a recall appointment by reviewing your medical history, results and any new information to help determine if it is considered significant to your health care.

Our doctors want the best for you, and this includes not only treating current conditions but also implementing preventative care. We understand that you live a busy life and it’s easy to forget important health checks throughout the year.

Why Am I Receiving a Recall?

There are a number of reasons your GP may recall you. Some of these include:

  • Test results
  • You may require further testing
  • Reminders for a procedure
  • Routine health check
  • Immunisations

Your GP Has a Duty of Care

Your General Practitioner has a legal and moral obligation to provide the best possible care they can to patients. Part of this duty of care is sending reminders and follow-ups where required to ensure continuing and preventative measures are in place.

How Will I Receive a Recall?

If you are issued with a recall you may receive a phone call, SMS or a letter to your postal address, you will then have the ability to make your appointment over the phone, in person or using our online booking system.

If you are waiting for results and haven’t received a recall, you are still able to phone the clinic and follow them up, you will then know for sure whether they require any further action.

To make an appointment phone us on (08) 9193 7133 or book an appointment online.

Feedback

We encourage your feedback on how we can improve our services. Please request a feedback form from the reception desk.

Our Practice Manager is here to assist you with any queries you may have and help our practice to run smoothly.

Should you need further support please contact: Office of Health Review on 1800 813 583

Communication

We may send reminders by mail, electronically or phone for procedures such as vaccinations, pap smears and other routine health reviews and double appointments.

You may receive information or advice from your GP or nurse via telephone or electronic means if your GP feels this is appropriate and safe. Our reception staff may ask you to leave a message for your GP to return your call or otherwise may advise that you book an appointment if more appropriate.

Our staff are aware of the specific needs of people with disabilities (such as deafness or visual impairment) and will support the most appropriate method of communication in these instances.

Urgent Issues

If you phone to speak to the doctor about any aspect of your clinical care and the matter is urgent, our reception staff will ask you a few questions to triage urgent clinical issues. The receptionist may request that you go to the emergency department now, may put you on hold to speak to the doctor or nurse now, may fit you in for an appointment urgently or may take a message for the doctor with your name and contact number to return your call. Urgent messages will be returned from your doctor by the end of the day.
